Successful Pikes Peak Test for Johnson & Alegra Motorsports

Johnson and Alegra Motorsports had a successful test this past weekend for the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb competition on June 21st, 2026.

For their first time as a team to battle the infamous mountain, the "Florida Flatlander" rookies ran both the lower and extended upper segments of the hill without a hitch. The purpose-built, twin-turbo 911 Porsche GT Americas (now called "Lucy 2") was completely gone through by the Daytona 24-hour winning race team.

With a new gearbox, shift system, new fuel cell, fuel system, turbos, and after being completely torn down to the chassis and rebuilt, this test weekend was the cars first offical 'shakedown'. By the end of day 2, "Lucy 2" had most of the kinks worked out and was running at full-power on low-boost.

"Pikes Peak is insane" said Johnson. "It's such an incredible road and competition. This was my first time driving up the mountain at speed, and Lucy 2 was a complete blast to drive; especially when I was finally able to drive the car with full throttle". The team has been working very hard to get everything in order and fine tuned for the competition later this month on the 21st. I'm really looking forward to race week with more test days and opportunities to learn the mountain and dial in the car."

"I want to thank Carlos and everyone at Alegra Motorsports for the opportunity and all of their hard work, along with Ignite Racing Fuel for their amazing Ethanol Race Fuel that allows this car to make so much power and stay cool in such stressful and demanding conditions."

The official Pikes Peak Fan Fest is Friday, June 19th followed by the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb set for Sunday, June 21st.
